The National Rugby Championship was the leading domestic professional rugby competition in Australia. It started in 2014 in a bid to further develop rugby in the country. It will be sponsored by Buildcorp in 2014. There was 9 teams playing in the competition and they played each other on a home and away basis. The top 4 teams then played semi-finals with the winners going on to the final. In a change from all other rugby competitions around the world, the National Rugby Championship will feature a number of Experimental Law Variations. These are all to try to increase the level of entertainment for the viewing public. The biggest changes are to the points system.
